Integrating the terminal on your desktop

Today I came across a very nice tool. With it you can for example integrate your console directly on the desktop. Which looks like this:

For a small tutorial how to achieve this please visit the ubuntu forums.

Google Korea gets new animated search page

Google unveiled a new version for the search page. The icons are animated and it doesn’t look that old style anymore.

The first place where you can enjoy this feature is Korea! Even though I am located in Europe, the site is still loading as fast as usual.

I hope they will transfer this redesign to other local search pages as soon as possible.

The end of cygwin is near? Or how to run Linux apps in OS X and win

LinuxDevices is talking about ‘a kind of holy software grail’ when a startup announces “LINA”. This piece of software should enable the possibility to run Linux applications easily in a OS X or Windows environment.

Some keyfeatures are:

  • Low overhead
  • Runs without recompiling
  • Access to Hostsystem resources
  • Native System integration
  • No porting necessary
  • Native look and feel
  • Support for legacy applications
  • Native programming languages

Well it seems it will not be necessary to install cygwin then anymore on the win computer. I am also quite curious how ‘easy’ it will be to handle. The Application comes in to licenses, one open source and also one commercial. As said in downloadsquat LINA is not supporting gtk+ and usb peripherals yet.

I gonna stay tuned and really curious what they gonna bring us.

Some apps you won’t see in a port from Linux, cpc campaign software and dedicated servers applications for bridging your backup box to your port switch. Not because this stuff doesn’t exist, but because who, other than a Martian webmaster would be into bipedal search engine optimization?
