Semacode or QR-Code on V3X

After I bought a new 512MB microSD card for my motorola V3X i decided to play around with some java apps.

The bad think with the motorola V3X is that there is no rss reader and also no QR-Code or semacode reader. So i had to search.

I found a compiled version of the sourceforge project for a java mobile QR-Code reader. I remember that i already tried it with my former E1000 and the QR-Code reader worked fine. This compiled version i found over www.getjar.com was crap for my V3X. The original version from https://sourceforge.jp/projects/qrcode/ works very well :) You should give it a try, it is based on Java so it works on a lot of mobiles with camera and Java.
Later I downloaded semacode from semacode.org

The read works very well on the Motorola V3X, apart from the older revision, the display of the camera is now full screen :)

My QR-Code for the blog ;) Sorry but i couldn’t find a handy semacode creator.

UPDATE: Thanks to Robert who gave me this adress. Their application reads both above mentioned barcodes.

Install German/English WinXP on Sony VGN-T72B aka PCG-4E1N

In my case I installed a German version of WinXp on the from japan imported Notebook. In the beginning you should backup the DRIVER folder which you can find on the C: Drive somewhere.

After you have done this you can start installing windows with the install CD.

When you finished it starts in windows. Everything seems to be good install all the drivers, which also should work well.

If you cannot handle the keyboard you should install the correct driver for the keyboard which is 106/109 japanese keyboard layout. Also don’t forget the language extnesion for east-asian languages, so you also have the language bar in the taskbar.

You will realize that the fancy buttons like volume, playdvd etc and the brightness buttons (which are accessible over the “Fn” key) doesn’t work. For this you should go to vaio-link.com to download the correct utilities.

The bad think here is that the service will tell you that the serial number which you have to enter is not correct, so you cannot access. In my case I called a friend who gave me his serial number (he bought his notebook in europe). In vaio-link.com you can also select to download drivers from different notebooks.

For the VGN-72B I selected the VGN-T2XP/L which looks quite the same. Downloaded the “Preinstalled Utilities” and it worked, the only application which made trouble was the “wireless switch application”, but its not neccessary because it works even without the application.
