I got rid of Microsoft Vista Business Edition after about 2 days. It was nice, but not what I expected, the advertisement makes it more fanzy than it really is. So I decided to switch to Linux.
I installed Ubuntu 6.10 and it was great, because it nearly makes everything work again on my Panasonic let’s note R3, which Vista was not able to do. So the Function keys are working now like a charm, wifi was no problem even Kismet is working very fine. The only thing was, I have to find a way to use the Scrolling feature of the touchpad again and the built in SD-Card Slot is not working yet. For the productivity I am using the Beryl window manager which also works very well on this machine.
Because I was already using Firefox and Thunderbird it was no big deal to migrate to Linux, just made a backup with MozBackup and renamed that Backup File extension to zip in Linux and so I could easily copy it to the new profile. The Japanese Input also was no problem to install I am using Anthy for this すごいい!! :)
