Speedtouch 510 ADSL modem to Router

My configuration for the internet was normally with a Speedtouch 510 Modem and a Netgear 814 WLAN Router. The Router sucked, crashes when you have more than 100 connections. So I read around and realized that it is possible to use the Modem, which is in fact a Router with DHCP etc as a ROUTER :)

First of all you need to get the FW update here .

Now you need to update the firmware. I suggest you backup your old config, just in case.

Next u restart the Router once and disconnect it from the splitter.

In “Advance” -> “System” you select this configuration file and upload it. This configuration file is for the Austrian Provider AON. Just have a look in the config and change DNS adress as you wish.

Next you should put in your User and password, “save all” and restart.

Have fun!
